Frugal Living Tips - Ten Ways to a Simpler Lifestyle

You will find a lot of advice on websites about frugal living tips. But, reading them, you will find that they are more of money saving tips. And while saving money is part of a frugal lifestyle, there is a difference. Frugal living is not always about saving money and getting the cheapest things. It's a lifestyle choice, a decision to simplify life and make it less complicated. A no-frills approach to everyday living.

Here are my top ten frugal living tips:

  1. Buy less 'house' than you can afford. Who says you have to get a mortgage for as much as you can qualify for? Leave room in there. Did you know that Warren Buffet, one of the richest men in the world, still lives in the same small 3-bedroom house in mid-town Omaha that he bought after he getting married 50 years ago. The house has everything he needs, according to him.
  2. Keep your necessary expenses low. Since when did cell phones become a necessity? Granted, it has its uses particularly for emergencies. Get the most basic plan.
  3. Don't go chasing a lifestyle and sacrifice a life in the process. Your chosen lifestyle might be costing you a lot more than money just to maintain it. Time away from your family maybe? Or too much stress?
  4. Don't try to keep up with the Joneses. Their life might look great but who knows, they might be up to their eyeballs in debt and suffering sleepless nights over it.
  5. Cook from scratch. It's healthier, preservative free and cheaper.
  6. Simplify your wardrobe. I can bet that right now, you can find at least 5 items in your wardrobe that you never wear and never intend to wear.
  7. Eat healthy, fresh food. Yes it costs more than convenient junk food, but this is a frugal living tip for long term health.
  8. Buy only what you can pay for right now. Get rid of the 'buy now, pay later' mentality that has become so deeply infused in our society.
  9. Get rid of clutter. These are things you don't need. Why keep them? Clutter-free surroundings make for clutter-free thinking.
  10. Live a simple life. Happiness is within us, not in the 'things' we can acquire.

Disney World - The Ultimate Money Saving Tip!

Brace yourself!!! No, it's not really that serious, but it is exciting! Well, here we go...

Before I go into my revolutionary article, I'm going to assume a couple of things:

  • You are staying at a Disney Resort. Disney World is not Disney World if you don't stay on property. It is a completely different experience and definitely worth the money. Also, if you stay at a Disney Resort, you are permitted extra hours at the parks!
  • You ONLY want to visit the 4 Theme Parks (There is SOOO much to do at Disney World and so little time!)
  • You are staying in Orlando for 4 Days (let's say Thursday - Sunday).

Now Brace yourself!!! (really...)
  1. STEP 1: Purchase a vacation package with Disney World. Purchase a 4 Day / 3 Night stay at any resort and include the BASE ticket (no park hopper / no-expiration option). Also, include the basic dining package for each person. For the best rates, be sure to purchase your vacation during the wonderful weeks period. During this period, Disney offers discounted rates. Walt Disney World has 3 classes in resorts: Value, Moderate, and Deluxe. If you are traveling with kids, it may be a good idea to stay at a Value resort. They are geared towards kids and are much cheaper than the other resorts. The Moderate resorts are perfect for everyone! They are fanatically themed as well as affordable. I recommend staying at the Coronado Springs Resort. If you chose to stay at a Deluxe resort, you will be paying a lot more, however it would be extremely luxurious. I recommend Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge. It is one of the cheaper Deluxe Resorts and probably the best! The base ticket option allows you to only visit one park a day. However, since you are there for 4 days and there are 4 theme parks, there are enough things to see and do at each park for the whole day, this works out perfectly! The park hopper option allows you to visit multiple parks in one day. This only works well when you don't have enough time to enjoy one park a day. The no-expiration ticket means that the ticket will never expire, however in this case, you plan to stay at Disney World for 4 days and use the 4 day tickets. The only addition you will need to add to your BASE ticket is the Dining Plan. Disney World is the #1 vacation spot in the world! Food and drink is a necessity! Put them both together and you get: EXPENSIVE FOOD!! The Dining Plan will allow each person to have a snack, quick service meal (lunch), and a table service meal (dinner) each day at every park.
  2. STEP 2: Plan to arrive in Orlando (or near Disney World) on Wednesday night! Be sure to have reservations at some regular motel just for the night. A simple Sleep Inn or Quality Inn usually works well for us! Make sure it is close to Disney World.
  3. Step 3: Thursday morning; get to your resort by 9 AM. YES, you can check-in at 9 AM! If your room is available, you will be allowed to go. If your room is not available, the concierge will keep your luggage and put it in your room once it's available. Every day, Disney World selects one park to open 1 hour early and close up to 3 hours later only for resort guests. You can get this schedule when you check in. Be sure to visit the park with extended the hours! You can hop on the Disney bus (free for resort guests) and go to a park.
  4. Step 4: Friday & Saturday; visit the park with extended hours. In the morning, it's a good idea to ride the big rides because there is little to no wait. By mid afternoon, you should have most of the rides completed. Now would be a good time to go back to resort and relax. Remember, there is also so much to do at the resort! You can go back to the same park and enjoy more.
  5. Step 5: Sunday; you must check out in the morning, however you have the whole day to enjoy the final park. Concierge will hold your luggage for you until night time. After you are done, come back to the resort, grab your luggage and go stay at a regular hotel.
  6. Step 6: On Monday morning, plan to go home. =(

Well, that concludes the ultimate money saving tip for your vacation at Disney World. What we've come to realize is that this concept is geared more toward families and those who have a limited spending limit. We hope that this article gave you some new ideas and helps you plan your next trip to Disney World.

Holiday on a Budget - Money Saving Tips

Interested In Making Money On The Internet? Find Full Or Part Time, Easy Proven And Successful Methods, At http://www.keys2prosperity.net/

Unfortunately, we all can't travel like the rich and famous. Then again, there's nothing unfortunate about it! Budget holidays can be fun, exciting and relaxing. Whatever your budget, the following tips should allow you to stretch that budget & get the most out of it, while still having a great time!

The most important piece of advice I can give you if you want to save money is 'Plan Ahead'! With a little planning, you can save a huge amount of money, allowing you to either re-invest that money into your holiday, or simply save it for another time.

If you have a particular destination in mind, it pays to book early. Also, research the local attractions and facilities. Look out for any special discounts that may be available. A little time can go a long way. It can also be cost-effective to plan your holiday at an off-peak time. Generally, plane fares, hotels, car rentals and many other things are cheaper during off-peak periods & you are more likely to find great deals.

It may be worthwhile planning your vacation in a place where you have friends or family. If you could stay with them, that can be a huge money saver - and you also get a free tour guide! Of course, you should still offer to pay towards any expenses, but your trip should still be much cheaper this way.

One of the big expenses when on holiday is food. Eating out at restaurants can cost a fortune, so you can save some money by packing food for your trip. Taking food to the beach, instead of forking out for lunch at a burger bar can be a real money saver when multiplied by 14 days. Another great tip is to avoid the restaurants that cater only to tourists. The prices will always be inflated in these areas. If you can ask around & find our where the locals eat, you will likely find that the food is cheaper and better. It may not be as near as the tourist places on your doorstep, but the small journey can be well worth it.

If you are planning on staying in a hotel, you will likely find that the closer you are to a major attraction/city centre, the more expensive they get. It may be worthwhile trying to find somewhere with a good balance between the distance & price. Also, don't just book your hotel based on the rating. It may be that the 4 star you are looking at has facilities that you just wont use. The 3 star on the other page might have everything you need - including a cheaper price!

Before you go, get familiar with the local bus/tram routes. You will save a lot of money on taxi fares.

Be sure to plan plenty of activities that don't cost a lot of money. Walking around the local scenery, trips to the beach & swimming are all things that are lots of fun & don't cost much, if anything at all.

Most important of all, have a good time!

Top Ten Ways to Travel Cheaply and Stick to a Budget

Interested In Making Money On The Internet? Find Full Or Part Time, Easy Proven And Successful Methods, At http://www.keys2prosperity.net/

Everyone would love to have the money to travel in style, stay in 5 star hotels and travel first class on planes but this is only a fantasy for 90% of travelers. Most of us have to travel on a budget, stay in hostels and pray that we have an aisle seat on the plane to stretch out into on a long haul flight. This is however the best way to travel as in many people's eyes you are backpacking properly and getting a much richer experience, but you still need to tighten the purse strings and spend wisely.

I have composed a list of the top ten ways to travel low cost for the first time backpackers. If you keep these points in mind on your journeys you may even return home with some loose change in your pocket.

Swap With Other Travelers

Swapping items of clothing and equipment is very economical and practical when trying to travel cheaply through many different climates and countries. If you start out in cold weather but plan to move onto tropical countries then try and swap your coat for a good waterproof. You would not want a winter coat taking up space in your backpack anyway. Similarly, you can swap travel guide books for countries you have been to for those on countries you are going to. If you do plan to discard something, always check to see if there is something you can swap for in return people will be very happy to oblige.

Travel Overnight

This is a great idea because you can travel a long distance without the wait endured while being conscious, and save money on the accommodation for the night. You do not have the luxury of a full night sleep or the comfort, but the savings are huge if the journey is necessary. Asia has a lot of trains which take days to get from A to B i.e. the Trans Siberian Railway. Of course you would not travel the whole way in one stint but many have bunks and are slightly better than a coach. You may need a face mask and ear plugs.

Purchase Discount Cards

There are several cards which offer you discounts at many world wide attractions and for stays at budget accommodation. Google either the International Student Identity Card or if you are not a student the International Youth Identity Card. Getting a YHA card is also a great money saver if you are going to New Zealand, Australia or to an extent the USA. I saved a load of money in all these destinations. Each of these cards mentioned cost roughly 10 Pounds or 20 US Dollars but you can easily earn your money back. I f you are having trouble finding the cards, following the link to my site below and click on discounts in the menu.

Local Food

In Asia and South America the local people bring their cuisine to you. City streets are normally lined with locals selling good traditional food for lower prices that in restaurant and cafes. You can easily grab a generous portion of noodles or grilled chicken for around One Pound or two US Dollars. Also, do not be surprised if you find the tastiest food at the side of the road either (and I am not talking road kill) as many local recipes are past down and refined through generations.

Opt For Shared Accommodation

Hostels do offer single or double rooms with en suite facilities but these can be up to five times the price of other rooms available. To keep the price low, opt into a shared dormitory with a shared bathroom. The size of the dormitory does vary from 15 down to 4 people but usually the more sharing the cheaper it gets. For instance, in New Zealand I opted for a private double room which cost 55 NZD a night between two, while other people shared a dormitory for as low as 15 NZD a night each. The savings can be huge especially if you are booked in for a long stay.

Stay On The Beaten Track

Inevitably cities are more expensive than the outskirts but also have a lot to see and do. Alternatively you could avoid the cities and see all that nature has to offer. You could stay in the jungle in Thailand or Yellowstone National Park in the USA and save a lot on the high accommodation and entrance fees generally associated with cities. Even if you cut out a one or two city stops and exchange them for National Parks and hiking, then you will find the cost of traveling a lot less.

Avoid Traveling Long Distances

This is not always a great idea because overland journeys are much more rewarding than internal flights as you can break the journey up and stop off to see lots of different things. However, long distance travel can be costly even by coach or train. Work out what you definitely want to see and plan your route carefully as you may have to make choices if money is running low. Another good tip is always book travel in advance firstly to avoid disappointment and secondly as sometimes discounts as offered.

Walk Instead of Ride

If you are sight seeing in cities you can get tired especially if the city is large and there is lots to see. If you have time then walk instead of riding the bus or tube because you will save a lot of money. Transport in major cities is always expensive in the Western world and in more developing countries you can be in danger of getting ripped off. To strengthen my argument, walking is also the best way to see things. If you jump on the tube and ride for 5 stops you miss everything in between and have a hole in your pocket. You will be paying enough on transport costs so save when you can.

Cut Back On The Booze

This is probably the last area that you will try and save on but it can be a big expenditure for some travelers. Try and get you drinking out of the way in South America and South East Asia while the drink is cheap. Anywhere in Australasia or Western Europe will be quite dear. Be prepared to also pay over the odds for drink in Muslim countries such as Malaysia as they do not consume alcohol. Remember you can drink back at home anytime you like but you may only backpack once, so ensure you spend your money on the right things. Besides, nobody likes traveling with a hang over.

Local Services

Be sure to make use of public services in foreign countries. No your taxes are not paying for them but it would be a shame to waste other people's. I found that the local library was an excellent way to lower the cost of Internet access as in many countries access is free. Libraries are also a have a good source of travel information if you cannot get to a computer or again just to save money. The only challenge is finding a library so do some research in advance or ask tourist information. Other services such as buses, museums, and exhibitions are often heavily subsidised or free so always be open to taking a look.

10 Secrets for Saving Money Each Time You Shop

http://www.keys2prosperity.net/

Do you save money when you shop? If you do, you know the money-stretching secrets of savvy shoppers. If you don't usually get a deal, discover the insider tips that can help you save more money.

1. Eat with the seasons. We humans used to eat with the seasons out of necessity. Whatever food was in abundance, we ate. It pays to eat with the sales now because when produce is "in season", it usually is on sale. This means buying blueberries in July and apples and cranberries in autumn. The key is to plan meals with seasonal recipes.

2. Shop with the sales. Some items go on sale the same time each year. Car dealers are motivated to sell this year's models in the last months of the year. The week after Christmas is the time to buy Christmas decorations. Winter clothes, towels and linens go on sale in January. School supplies are on sale in the weeks before school starts. Shop during those times to find deals.

3. Use coupons and make it fun. If your coupons come in the Sunday paper, try to get ten times the value of the paper in coupons. For example, if your Sunday paper costs $1.00, try to get $10.00 in savings each week. Over a year, you'll save more than $500 dollars. Another great source of coupons is the Entertainment Coupon Book. This coupon book is available in most major cities and can save you money at local businesses, such as restaurants and dry cleaners. You can get this coupon book at www.entertainment.com.

4. Automatically find out about deals. Get a membership at BonusWire.com. Every week BonusWire.com sends you a list of companies who offer freebies, deals and bonuses. Find out more at www.bonuswire.com. Another handy website that will point you to deals is CoolSavings. They will send you coupons for brand name products such as Pampers and coupons to stores such as Petco. Sign up at www.coolsavings.com.

5. Before you buy online, do this. Are you shopping at a well-known website? Serious online savers search for "companyname coupons". For example, go to Google.com and search "Gap coupons" or "Amazon coupons".

6. Get a deal after the item has sold out. What happens when you have a store coupon for a GREAT deal but when you get there, the store is out of the item? A little-known secret is you may still get the item for the coupon's price - simply ask the clerk for a "raincheck". A raincheck is a little form that extends your coupon for a week. This is only a possibility with store coupons, not manufacturer's coupons. Also, the original coupon can not state: "While supplies last".

7. Pay cash whenever you can. Many of us carry credit card debt, which only makes us poorer. The benefits of paying with cash: 1. No interest 2. Some companies offer a discount for cash. For example, a furniture store may offer a 2% discount for cash. When you are buying a big-ticket item, ask if there's a discount for paying with cash.

8. Combine savings. Did you know sometimes you CAN combine savings? For example you may find products on sale AND use a coupon. Try that the next time you go to the grocery store. Here's another example, a store runs a special where they will pay the taxes PLUS you could pay cash and get the cash discount.

9. Try this last minute money saver. Before you make any large purchase, ask the salesclerk this question: "Can you do better than that?" This question can save you hundreds of dollars each year. Just wait until the seller has told you the price and say, "Can you do better than that?" Another variation of this question is "Is that your best price?"

10. Get a deal AFTER you buy it. What if an item goes on sale after you bought it? Did you know some stores have a policy that gives you the sale price even if you bought a week earlier? This can apply to big-ticket items such as cameras, TVs and furniture. It's worth a phone call to the store to find out if they'll refund the difference.

By putting these money-saving tips into action, you can keep more of your hard earned money. You will be saving with the savviest of shoppers.
